Erhard Knull

Reverend Erhard Knull, age 96. Beloved husband of Lydia (nee Penno) for 68 years. Dear father of Carmen Bloomster (Brent) and Ralph Knull (Beth). Loving grandfather of Heather Patterson (Phil), Kyle Bloomster, Jordan Bloomster, Zachary Knull (Marissa), Kristin Knull, Brianna Knull. Great-grandfather of Beckett, Rylee, Lennox.
Erhard immigrated to the United States from Germany, at age 22, after enduring many hardships during World War II. Despite knowing no English when he first arrived in Milwaukee, WI, Erhard quickly learned the English language and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sioux Falls College, completed post-graduate courses at the University of Tuebingen in Germany, and then returned to the states, and earned a Bachelor of Divinity from the North American Baptist Seminary, a Master of Arts from Kent State University and a Master of Divinity from the North American Baptist Seminary.
Throughout his life, Erhard showed love daily to his Lord and Savior, his family and the congregants and veterans he ministered to throughout his life. He began his ministry as the senior pastor at Rosenfeld Baptist Church in Drake, ND, was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1963 and then moved to Parma, OH to both build, and then lead, Missionary Baptist Church. In 1970, he started as a Protestant Chaplain at the Brecksville VA Medical Center, and continued serving veterans until his retirement in 2001 (highlighted by starting a group home ministry program for veterans throughout Ohio).
Erhard was a member of Parma Heights Baptist Church (now Cross of Hope Church) for over 50 years, where he demonstrated his servant's heart by serving in numerous leadership positions and oftentimes filling in at the pulpit at his home church, and at numerous other northeastern Ohio churches, when requested to do so. He also led services at many nursing homes throughout the Cleveland area. In addition, Erhard had a great sense of humor, loved taking vacations throughout the country with his family and made every effort to attend his grandkids' school and sports events. Erhard was also an avid gardener (taking great pride in his yard and roses) and enjoyed bicycling, walking and reading.
Erhard passed away peacefully on Saturday June 28, 2025, at Plum Creek Senior Assisted Living Facility in Brunswick, OH, with his family at his side, and is now rejoicing in Heaven with his Lord and Savior and with the many family and friends he ministered to throughout his lifetime.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Cross of Hope Church, 8971 W. Ridgewood Drive, Parma Heights, OH 44130 where the funeral service will be held at 12:15pm. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.
