Mr. Eric Jason Burton

Eric Jason Burton, 55, passed from this life Tuesday, September 16th, 2025. Eric was born to Lawrence and Tina Burton on November 25th, 1969, in Columbus, IN.
A man of many passions and vitality, Eric was a beacon of energy and enterprise. Obtaining a degree in culinary arts, he loved cooking great food for the people he loved. A phenomenal artist on and off paper, he was also an outdoorsman at heart. He loved to fish and work on beautiful landscapes. His inability to sit still was legendary, a new project always on the horizon.
A jokester with an infectious laugh, Eric loved spending time with his family. When he wasn't entertaining in the kitchen or sharing wild stories from his youth, Eric pursued his knack for business through buying and reselling treasured finds – a testament to his keen eye and entreprenurial spirit.
Eric is survived by the ones who kept him going through his struggles in life: his wife, Shelley Burton of Columbus; his mother, Tina Burton of Ogilville; children, Erica Burton of Evansville, Jane Maynard of Columbus, and Shelby Thomas of Columbus; brothers, Ritchie (Regina) Burton of Columbus and Craig (Stephanie) Burton of Columbus; grandchildren, Sterling Maynard, Ezekiel Maynard, and Lyncoln Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his late father.
In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation will take place and there are no services planned.
