Eric Miller, age 55, of Milbank, SD, died at home with his wife by his side on Friday, October 18, 2024, following an aggressive cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Emanual Lutheran Church in Milbank. A meal will follow. Visitation will be available on Friday, November 1, at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Pastor Chris Davis will officiate. Inurnment will be at Dell Rapids Cemetery in Dell Rapids, SD, at a later date.
Eric Lee Miller, son of Franklin “Ted” Theodore Miller and Carol (Gienapp) Miller, was born on September 8, 1969, in Iowa. Eric married Lisa (Forman) Miller in 2017. Eric spent most of his childhood in Cedar Rapids, IA. Following his teenage years, he took further schooling in carpentry and then lived in many places including: Iowa, Florida, Canada, Sioux Falls, and more. Eric worked different jobs, several of those were as a cook; he was a wonderful cook. He has fond memories of living with his brother in Florida. He came to Milbank and worked construction and painting jobs with many different companies (Pillatzke and Montag/Wallworks) before starting his own company, Finish Pros, where he specialized in painting and sheetrock taping, among other tasks. After an injury at his job, Eric joined Whetstone Lumber as the yard manager. Due to an additional shoulder injury, he started as custodian and maintenance at Emanuel Lutheran Church, working there until the beginning of 2024. Eric fought the cancer to his last days.
Eric was an outdoorsman through and through. He fished and hunted deer, elk, antelope, and even a black bear. He loved to go morel mushroom hunting, looking every spring. He watched outdoorsman channels whenever he could. He was a dog lover, always keeping up at least two bird dogs. He was kind and friendly, helped anyone if he could, and was one of the funniest people that Lisa had ever met.
Eric is survived by his wife, Lisa of Milbank, SD; mom, Carol Miller of Milbank, SD; his son, Tyler (Orianna) Kjellsen of Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughter, Willow; step-son, Lewis (Kierstin) Sharp of Mauston, WI; step-daughter, Jules Sharp of Roseville, MN; brother, Joe (Jody) Miller of Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Sara Nunn of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Franklin “Ted” Miller.
