George Eric Peabody, III, fondly known as Eric, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 71. Eric was born in Manhattan, New York, to George Eric Peabody, Jr. and Rosemary Peabody, both of whom preceded him in death. An only child, Eric carried on his family's name with pride and kindness throughout his life. In 1989, Eric married the love of his life, Deborah Owens ("Deb"). Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Deb and Eric stood faithfully by each other's sides every day, through all of life's joys and challenges. Eric was known for his gracious spirit, kind heart, and gentle humor. He had a unique ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued, whether they were lifelong friends or passing acquaintances. His warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A gifted musician, Eric was a passionate guitar player with a deep love for rock and roll. In the early 2000s, he also discovered a love for running. He completed two Chicago Marathons, countless half marathons, and numerous other races. For Eric, both music and running were not just pastimes, but ways to express himself freely-and to share meaningful time with Deb and close friends. Professionally, Eric built a successful career in sales and found particular fulfillment managing a heavy equipment branch, first in Atlanta, Georgia, and later in the Detroit, Michigan metro area. He was respected not only for his leadership and dedication but also for his integrity and warmth. Eric's presence will be deeply missed by Deb, their dog (Ripp), and his other family, his friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Eric's life with a visitation and service on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Road (3 Blks E of Van Dyke) Utica from 10am until the time of service 12pm (Noon). Interment Resurrection Cemetery Clinton Township, Michigan
