Still miss you. Always will. But I KNOW you're always around - I hear your cackle and see your doppelgangers almost everywhere I go. Some I've even sent pictures of to your mom. It's so wild! I'm so proud of the human you were and am forever grateful for the impact you have had in my life, even now. My work has me going on the Marine base weekly, and I wonder if I ever walked the halls where you did. I always scan the pictured walls for your face. I can't wait to cause trouble together again someday. Sparkle belts, funky socks, and ice cream. Also, you still owe me a hula bobble doll.
Love you dude.

Dear Eric,
Memories do last a lifetime and as I look forward to the 20 year 3/4 reunion coming up in a few months I can't help but think more and more about you and the time I had getting to know you as a friend, a brother in arms, a Marine. I think about the brothers I've stayed in touch with over there years and the brothers I have lost touch with. I know with getting together with our brothers your memories will be brought up and the times we all had together will be shared again it only saddens me that you won't be there to share in the laughter of seeing one another again.
But I know that the ones of us there will raise a toast to you and enjoy the memories we can share of you.
Semper Fi my fellow brother and friend.

Dear Freeman Family and Eric,
Eric I didn't know you, but you were in my son's platoon, so when Steven got injured (April '05)somehow your family reached out of their grief and pain to comfort us. At the time, I couldn't fathom how they could do that, but now I know- they were honoring you. Your sister, Mary, and your mother are the most inspirational people I know. And your legacy does live on! Semper Fi.
PS. I too pick up pennies and think of you, and I know as your family does that you are a guardian angel for many people.

Though I met Eric only once, and knew him scarcely at all, I know the kind and loving mother who raised him and who gives so much to the world every day. To give up one we love for the betterment of all is a gift that none of us wishes to make, and few have the bravery to embrace. Eric will live on in our lives, whether we know it or not, and when we pause to remember him, his life will help to guide us through darkness.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

There are no magic words warriors use to comfort each other and no words we can use to adequately comfort the family of a fallen comrade in arms. Know that what your son did was important to him and those he kept the faith with. Know that he loved you and held you close in his heart looking forward to the day he could embrace you again. Know that as long as Marines stand in places of danger and peace time readiness, Eric will always be alive in his fellow Marines. In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; and you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving, go on believing,
and treasure the remembering.

Dear Brenda and Scott,
I was saddened and disturbed to hear about the accident. I remember well Eric's early years, but unfortunately I never knew the man that he became. He was a handsome boy and even back then he was one of the toughest kids that I ever saw. It doesn't surprise me that he grew up to become such an outstanding Marine. You both did a fine job raising him and the rest of your family.
I have a son now too. His name is Sean and he is 9 years old. As a parent I can only imagine how tough it must have been for all of you.
You are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish everyone the very best.

Eric, more than a year has passed since we lost you. A day hasn't gone by that I haven't thought of you; your smile, your wit, your sarcasism, your grace. My family and I are so blessed to have had you in our lives. Remember your blue hair? Pizza, ice cream and Nintendo late at night with my kids? Your feet on my desk at school and swing dancing? I always will remember. I will always cherish your little metal "thinker" man and your Marine pin that you gave me before you left for Iraq. Thank you letting me be your "other" mom and for so many cherished memories. You always told me and now I'll tell you..."YOU ROCK"! Love, Robin

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!
Also, the Moving Tribute is was beautiful! Cherish those memories forever!

This man will be remembered, long after most of us are gone, as a hero. A man that helped free a beleaguered nation. A selfless, giving individual whose sacrifice will end up changing the world (for the better) over the next century. Millions will gain their freedoms because of his sacrifice. Thousands will not fall prey to terrorists because of his efforts. Children the world over will once again live in peace and happiness, devoid of terroristic threats upon their wellbeing because this man was willing to stand up and say "Enough. I am here to start the beginning of the end of the forces of evil.".
Many of us live our lives to great ages without having the impact that this young man will have had in his all too brief life.
It is with a sense of great insufficiency that I say Thank you Cpl. Freeman for all you have done for us.
And to his family, I hope that all of you can take some scant solace in knowing what a heroic role your son made in willingly going to the other side of the earth to serve his country. And all of mankind.

I never met Eric, but his name caught my eye since I also grew up in Thousand Oaks. With so many numbers printed each day in the paper, I felt that I wanted to find a single person to honor.. America is a terrific country where we can protest, support, speak, live and be free. I have travelled to other countries where you can be arrested for speaking your mind. This precious human being, Eric Scott Freeman fought for everyones right to question, to celebrate and to believe the way they feel called upon to so do. I would like to personally honor this person for this amazing gift. To Eric Scott Freeman and his family, a heart felt blessing and deep gratitude. Truly what it means to be in the "land of the brave".

They Enlisted For the Duty at Hand - To Serve the Cause of Country and Land. In the Sun, In the Rain, In the Winds, Across This Land, Years of Tears Has Brought Us Here, Gathering Around to Hear This Sound. So Let the Flags of Freedom Fly And Thank God For The Brave Souls That Are Fighting For You Right Now. God Bless And Watch Over Each And Everyone That Defends This Country.

God rest your soul LCPL Freeman, for you will remain a brave soldier and warrior in the hearts and minds of your loved ones and all the American people forever. Thank you for making your family and loved ones so proud and honored, and for having been a brother in arms to my LCPL Venegas. You will never be forgotten and are painfully missed by so many.

Eric was a great friend of mine around jr. high though I met him in elementary school. He was my best friend. At that age, he had such a defined personality and he had a sense of humor like no other. Even to this day, after not hearing from him for years, I believe my own humor is based on his.
Memories of the fun we had together have never left me. Hes just that kind of person you can never forget.
To the Freemans, my prayers are with you all.
