Eric Andrew Shuttleworth

Eric Shuttleworth, a gentle soul content with a simple life, ended his earthly journey at the Warriors Walk hospice in the V.A. Hospital on March 19 following a long illness. He was born January 4, 1960, in Independence MO to James and Elizabeth Shuttleworth. Being a service brat, Eric lived in many places, including Okinawa, and graduated from Columbia High School in 1978. He served as a soldier in the United States Army during the Cold War and was posted to Fort Benning GA, Germany, and Fort Carson CO. Eric worked as a bank vault teller and private security guard. Eric is survived by his sister Sharon (Gussie) Fox and husband James, brother Bruce Shuttleworth and wife Theresa; nephews Travis and wife Anne, Gavin and wife Mollie, and Sean and wife Courtney; nieces Shannon, Amelia, and Andrea and Russ; great nephews Nathanael, Cooper, and Jesse; step great nephews Ethan and Isaac; great niece Arianna; aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved cats Nipper, Sheila and Stormy. A celebration of Eric's life will be held at the Episcopal Church of Saint Simon and Saint Jude in Irmo at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26. Friends and family are invited to gather in the fellowship hall following the service. Cremation is being handled by Barr-Price Funeral Homes.
