Raymond Eric Stewart, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Hospice Home. He was born in Alamance Couty and was the son of the late Jesse Vance and Virginia Dare Andrews Stewart. He was the husband of 58 years to Joan Hodge Stewart who survives.

Eric retired from Johnson Controls after 40 years as an Electrician. He was a member of St. Marks Church and the Burlington Shag Club. Eric enjoyed the outdoors spending time boating, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed family beach trips and surf fishing at the Outer Banks. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Tar Heels and Washington Commanders, following the teams each season. Eric, along with his wife, traveled abroad to many different countries. He was devoted to his family and especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

Eric is survived by his wife, Joan Hodge Stewart of the home; his son, Todd Stewart of Elon; grandchildren, T J Stewart, Jr., Allen and Ryan Stewart; four great grandchildren and his nephews, Brendan and Shannon Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Spanky Stewart; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Stewart.

A service to celebrate Eric’s life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 2:00PM at St. Marks Church by Rev. Pete Stearns and Rev. Bob Disher. The family will receive friends following the service in the Atrium of the church and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Authoracare Collective Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
