St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 9, 2025 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church honoring the life of Eric John Talley, 41, who passed away on October 6, 2025.
Rev. Jason Vidrine will officiate at the funeral mass. Reader will be Kathy DeJacques. Gift bearers will be Canon Daspit, Sean Talley, Riley Daspit and Alivia Champagne.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Eric was born on January 6, 1984 in New Iberia. Eric was a skilled welder who dedicated his career to the oilfield industry. He will be remembered not only for his talents but also for the kindness and generosity that defined his character.
Eric was a devoted father to his beloved son, Sean Talley. He cherished moments spent fishing in the basin with his father, son and best friend Jerry Courville, and hunting, sharing a love for the great outdoors that brought them closer. His fondness for sports, particularly Louisiana State University (LSU) athletics, was a testament to his spirited nature. Eric had a profound love for animals and was always eager to help others, demonstrating a kind-hearted spirit that touched everyone around him.
He is survived by his son, Sean Talley; father, Cleveland Talley; mother, Debra Talley; sister, Tiffany Talley (Kenneth) Daspit; and maternal grandmother, Cynthia Champagne.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Merlin Champagne; paternal grandparents grandfather, Mervin Joseph Talley, Sr. and Arlene Talley; aunt, Linda Talley Doucet.
His father Cleveland Talley will serve as pallbearer.
