Erich Streder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Kampp Funeral Home on Oct. 14, 2025.
Erich Streder, age 87, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, receiving loving prayers from his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Streder, and their eight beloved children: Steve (Cheryl), Jeff (Andrea), Kathy, Karla (Frank), Curt (Jennifer), Brian (Monica), Karen (Doug), and Kelly (John).
Erich was a proud and caring grandfather to nineteen grandchildren - Brian, Melissa, Jason, Tara, Gabby, Izzy, Morgan, Shealyn, Jake, David, Michael, Rachel, Tanner, Tommy, Tate, John, Eva, Scott, and Lucy - each of whom brought him tremendous joy and laughter throughout the years.
He was the loving brother of Richard (Linda) and Joyce, and a cherished uncle to their children. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Arthur and Johanna Streder.
Known for his kindness, steady wisdom, and deep devotion to family, Erich led a life rooted in love, hard work, and integrity. He cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren - whether gathered for family dinners, celebrating holidays, or sharing the simple, everyday moments that became treasured memories.
Erich grew up in Chicago. He enjoyed his childhood playing sports and honing his skills. He became a fierce and accomplished soccer player making such an impact in his time at UIC that he was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. He transferred to Michigan State and became a decorated NCAA All-American in 1959. After graduation, Erich continued to play for the Chicago Hansa which was a part of the National Soccer League. He shared his love of sports with his children often spending the weekends playing tennis or hitting softballs. He also spent countless hours on the pool deck coaching his children in swimming. He was such a proud and dedicated father who spent his days leading people at Zenith then spending his evenings at the pool with his kids as well as many other swimmers who wanted to join the fun.
Erich's legacy of faith, humility, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, Illinois, with visitation with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service
