Erik Van Meyer Jr., 37, of Wildwood, NJ, passed away on December 5, 2022. He passed peacefully in his sleep. The cause has yet to be determined.
Erik was born on September 21, 1985 to Erik Meyer Sr. and Betty Meyer at Burdette Tomlin Hospital, in Cape May Court House, NJ. Erik attended Wildwood Catholic School, and later on received his GED in 2014. Clamming and fishing was what he grew up doing. It's what his family knows and enjoys doing. He also spent some time working as a security guard.
Erik grew up with his brother Christopher Evan Meyer, born October 3, 1987. Christopher was tragically taken away from his family, and this world far too soon on November 4, 2004. Erik also has a younger brother, Nicholas Noah Meyer, born August 26, 1999.
On June 9, 2006, Erik welcomed to the world his first born son, Jacob Christopher Meyer. Later, on April 4, 2010, he then welcomed into the world his younger son, Joshua Joseph Meyer. His boys were his absolute world in his heart.
On October 4, 2020, Erik married Laura Kerschen at The Shore Club in CMCH. They were surrounded by loved ones who celebrated their special day together. Erik and Laura did not have as much time together as they expected, but their time together was blessed with unconditional love.
Erik is loved by so many friends and family. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He truly had a good heart with good intentions. He had many obstacles in life that knocked him down, but despite the years of struggling he finally overcame. Everyone is proud of the man they knew he could be.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Evan Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Laura Kerschen Meyer, his children Jacob Christopher Meyer and Joshua Joseph Meyer. He is also survived by his parents Erik Meyer and Betty Meyer and his brother Nicholas Noah Meyer as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins who all loved him dearly.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame De La Mer Parish, St. Ann Church, 2901 Atlantic Avenue, Wildwood, NJ 08260, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Seaville Methodist Cemetery.
