Erin Lowder Obituary

Erin McCordsville Lowder Erin Elaine Lowder, 63 of McCordsville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Erin was born on January 30, 1960 in Greenfield, Indiana, the daughter of Norman Gail & Anne Elaine (Chandler) Elsbury. Erin graduated from Greenfield-Central High School with the Class of 1978. Soon after graduation, she would marry the love of her life, Jerry Lowder, on July 8, 1978 in Fortville, Indiana.

Erin was very active within the Hancock County community. She drove a school bus for Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation for 25 years. While driving the bus, she obtained her real estate license and began her successful journey in real estate. After a few short years, her business took off and she transitioned to working full-time in real estate. Most recently, Erin was a real estate broker for nearly 30 years and co-owned Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in Fortville and Greenfield. She was a well-trained realtor having attained her GRI, CRS and other certifications. Those accomplishments helped her become one of the most trained and educated in her field. She was a member of numerous organizations, including the MIBOR Realtors Association, Hancock County Board of Realtors, Chamber of Commerce and was the past president of the Hancock County Marketing Division. Over the years Erin was a supporter of the Hancock County 4-H programs, Mt.Vernon PTO organizations, as well as the Mt.Vernon Athletic Boosters. Erin loved to be with people and was always generous with her time and talents. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, bowling, card club, traveling with her family, planning gatherings and spent a great deal of time helping her husband and son on the family farm. Above all else, she adored spending time with her grandkids and supporting their various interests and activities.

Erin is survived by her loving husband of almost 45 years, Jerry Lowder of McCordsville; daughter, Stacy (Billy) Muffler of McCordsville; son, Justin Lowder (Trisha Garrity) of Fortville; sister, Kathy Hall of Pendleton; brother, Kenny (Lori) Elsbury of Indianapolis; parents, Norman and Anne Elsbury; grandchildren, Emma Muffler, Haley Lowder, Drew Lowder, Kagen Muffler, Rylee Garrity, Bristol Garrity, Jase Lowder; mother-in-law, Lou Lowder; and their loyal dog, Ali. She is preceded in death by her brother, Gary Dean Elsbury; and father-in-law, Doyne Lowder.

A casual gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
