Erma L. Nicol

Erma L. (Cobes) Nicol, 103, of Derry, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Ligonier Gardens. Born Feb. 18, 1922, in Derry Township, she was the daughter of the late Philip E. Cobes and Mary E. (Lyons) Cobes. Erma was a faithful member of the Latrobe First Church of God for many years. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake and had been a real estate agent for Bangor Realty for a number of years. Erma had a great love for music and enjoyed playing guitar and dulcimer. Painting and dancing, especially square dancing, were other favorite pastimes of Erma's. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William W. Nicol; one son, Jeffrey P. Nicol; one brother, Wayne Cobes, and his wife, Anna Mary; one sister, Thelma Ometz, and her husband, Frank; a son-in-law, Leonard Reeves; and a daughter-in-law, Michele Nicol. Erma is survived by one daughter, Patricia Reeves, of New Alexandria; two sons, Wally Nicol and his wife, Brenda, of Derry, and David Nicol of Derry; a daughter-in-law, Cecilia Nicol, of New Alexandria; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, in the funeral home with Rev. Mike Bobula officiating. Private interment will be at Union Cemetery, New Alexandria.
