Erma Gail Reed

It is with profound sadness that the family of Erma Gail Levi Reed announces her passing on November 27, 2025, while a resident of the Parkside Nursing Home in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA.

Gail was born on November 14, 1937, in Chattanooga, TN, and raised in the East Lake community. She attended East Lake Elementary and was a member of the 1956 graduating class of Chattanooga City High School.

Gail was a talented musician, a former church pianist and youth choir director.

At the time of her passing, she was active in The River Community Church of Dalton, GA.

Gail had an immense love for beautiful flowers and, for almost fifty years, owned and operated Gail's Florist in Ft. Oglethorpe. In her capacity as a longtime and respected business owner, she was a member of the Ft. Oglethorpe Chamber of Commerce and a past chairman of the Ft. Oglethorpe Optimist Club.

Gail is predeceased by her father, Chattanooga Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Carl A. Levi, her mother, Erma Smartt Levi, and her brother, Tennessee Army National Guard Brigadier General Carl E. Levi.

She is survived by her estranged daughter, Kimberly Hicks McConathy, and granddaughter, Rachel McConathy Smith; great grandson, Carter Smith; her cousins Hildred (Bitse) Levi Griggs (Erick), Hildred (Missy) Griggs McKenna (Donald), and Brooks McKenna; and special friends Becky and Bill Ware and Phyllis Copeland.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Parkside Nursing Home for Gail's skilled and compassionate care.

Memorials in Gail's honor may be made to The River Community Church, 2410 Cleveland Highway; Dalton, GA 30721.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1st, in the East Brainerd Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
