Erma was my sister in-law. She was married to my oldest brother Herm. We enjoyed a warm relationship for over 70 years. She was the sister I never had and I will miss her greatly. She was a great seamstress, amazing cook, and loved to bake. She could make better Dutch Letters than anyone in Pella. She made many garments for me when I was young and they all looked professionally done. She took the time to teach me to sew. She taught me many tricks of the trade that I've handed down to my daughter Darcy, who has also become a good seamstress. We will miss Erma deeply, she was a wonderful lady who had a long fulfilling life of 100 years. Erma endured good times and tough times. May she rest in peace. Love Lorraine Vander Hoek

I remember Erma when she and her family lived on the corner West of where I lived. My sister JoAn and I would go there and play with Rebecca in the corn crib where she had her playhouse. We made mud pies and had a wonderful time. I also remember visiting Herm and Erma in their house near Lacey. I enjoyed visiting them when I came home to see my parents, Cornie and Ethel Jacobs. I was blessed to be able to visit Erma a couple times in Cedar Falls. I am thankful for her friendship. When we spoke over the phone she was always thankful for the call and positive. She was sometimes working on a word search and recently enjoying a nap. I will miss talking to her and look forward to seeing her in Heaven. She said recently that she was ready to go there.
Blessings to you family members, she loved all of you very much. Sincerely, Jean Jacobs Ambrose

Mom and Dad would love to visit Herm and Erma in Waterloo. They had a deep friendship. Erma loved to prepare coffee and cookies for us when we arrived. My sympathies to the family, Carolyn (Bruxvoort) Lenes
