Our beloved, Erma Lee Grubbs Wade, affectionately known as Mother Wade, departed this earthly life on Friday, December 2, 2022. Erma was born in Marianna, Arkansas on March 2, 1938 to Emma Vetra Webb and Robert “Bobby” Grubbs. She attended Newsom Elementary and Middle Schools in Aubrey, Arkansas, and graduated in 1957 from Anna Strong High School in Marianna. She then became a licensed cosmetologist in Massachusetts and Arkansas. She was a devoted member and Mother of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. She loved cooking and being in the kitchen. She was an avid traveler and continued her education through traveling to historical places.
Erma is survived by her two daughters, Linda Boykins Lee (Humphrey) and Regina Wade Carter (Joseph, Sr.); her siblings, Nathaniel Wright (Elvira), Emma Wright and Diane Foreman; grandchildren, Samara Bath Israel (Malakh Adonai-Ben), Marion Hollaway, Joseph Carter, Jr.; great-grandson, Yasha Ben-Malakh Israel; and nieces, nephews, cousins, including Rosetta Richardson (Larry), and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wade; parents, Emma Vetra Wright, beloved “Daddy Jay” Jarvis Wright, Sr. and Bobby Grubbs; her; daughter, Sonya Wade; and brothers, Jarvis Wright, Jr. and Alfred Wright.
Erma’s family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Rhonda Gentry at CARTI, Chambers Health and Rehab (Baptist Hospice) for helping us through this journey we traveled with Momma.
Services will be held on Monday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 9:00, at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 2221 Broadway, Little Rock. Interment will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to her beloved church.
