It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Ernest Brantley Blackwell, age 81. Mr. Blackwell passed away October 24, 2025, at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Blackwell was born in Bishopville, the son of the late Colan Tillman Blackwell and Pauline Hopkins Blackwell Miller. He was employed at AO Smith until his retirement and was an Army Veteran.
Surviving is one daughter Brandy (Megan Feltis) Blackwell, McBee; two sons, Kevin Blackwell, Hartsville and Philip (Ashley) Blackwell, McBee; seven grandchildren, Blake (Freddie Baker) Blackwell, Colton Blackwell, Liam Blackwell, Teagan Blackwell, Emily Robinson, Scotty Kirkwood and Christian Kirkwood; one great grandchild, Allyssa Baker; two brothers, Billy (Linda) Blackwell, Odom Georgia and Tony (Wanda) Blackwell, Florence; two sisters, Carolyn (Micky) Woods, Jessup Georgia and Carrie Thomas, Anderson, S.C..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris (Jimmy) Manuel.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to Centerwell Home Health and McLeod Hospice for the care which they provided to Mr. Blackwell.
