Ernest Carr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Ernest "Ernie" L. Carr, 75 of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born on August 28, 1950, in Pennsboro, WV.

On May 25, 1974, Ernie married the love of his life, Marsha (Kozora) Carr. They were truly inseparable best friends in every sense.

Ernie spent more than 40 years as an autobody technician for the City of Weirton, doing the work he loved most. Whether it was body work, painting, or tackling a stubborn repair, he approached every job with determination and skill. If something was broken, he made it his mission to fix it.

He was a devoted family man, finding his greatest joy in the people he loved most. Ernie had a special way with people, always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Helping others came naturally to him, and he carried a genuinely kind heart that touched everyone who knew him. He was a storyteller at heart, known for sharing memories and moments that brought people together and kept everyone smiling.

He found joy in simple comforts-watching The Waltons, following NASCAR, and getting caught up in the excitement of WWE Wrestling. Sundays were for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Music was another constant in his life; he loved country songs, and nothing made him happier than playing the guitar and singing hymns. You could feel the warmth of his spirit in every note.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hattie (Cunningham) Carr, along with his cherished brother, David Carr, and his beautiful sisters, Anna Mae Starvaggi and Virginia "Ginny" Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha, and his daughters, Heather Carr, Tracey (Richard) Loy, and Rachel (Brandon) Conrad, who were the pride of his life. His grandsons, Austin Loy and Kolten Conrad, brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his sisters Betty Dye, Harriett (Robert) Sturges, Mary Carr, and Peggy Rice, as well as many nieces and nephews.

And of course, we can't forget his beloved fur baby, Snickers. Ernie adored him and affectionately called him "Daddy's little boy".

Friends may visit Ernie's family on Friday, January 30, from 2 pm until the time of his 4 pm funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

Pastor James Rhodes will officiate.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated medical staff at the Weirton Geriatric Center and Weirton Medical Center. The ICU team showed exceptional kindness and care, and their compassion will be remembered forever.
