James Hardy, Family of Wm. Robyn Hardy, MD

To the Family of Dr. Cohen, May we extend our deepest sympathies to you at this most difficult time. Ernie was a special friend and physician to our father during his final illness. They were colleagues at Touro and our father had the deepest degree of personal affection and professional respect for him throughout their association. I came to know him later as a friend and colleague at the LSU School of Medicine where he was devoted to teaching the next generation of physicians. He never failed to greet me warmly and with unceasing courtesy. He was fine man and a well respected surgeon and teacher. He will be deeply missed my anyone who had the good fortune to cross his path.

Dr. Cohen and I shared the experience of graduation from Temple medical school, service in the US Navy, and practice of surgery in the same New
Orleans hospitals. As a friend, he was affable, sincere and loyal. As a surgeon, he was meticulous, cautious and deliberate. As a physician, he was devoted, caring and held in high esteem by his patients. His portrait embellishes the image of high moral character each of us would expect of an officer, a gentleman, and a physician. Physical form fades-what we leave behind us is the full measure of our existence. May family and friends abide the peace in which he rests. K.Dieffenbach, MD

Dr. Cohen was the best! Excellent surgeon, very nice person. Treated his patients with respect. We were sorry when he retired, but it was well deserved. Rest well Dr. Cohen. Friends at Touro Infirmary
