It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest “Bean” Eugene Drummer Jr., 55, of Shamrock, West Virginia. Born on April 4, 1970, Ernest was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and member of his community. He also was a proud graduate of Marshall University, band member of Logan High School, and fraternity brother of Alpha Phi Alpha (Epsilon Zeta Chapter). He left this world with a reflection of the faith and kindness he shared with all who knew him.
A man of deep faith, Ernest found solace and strength in his relationship with God. He spent many quiet moments reading his Bible, often turning to scripture for guidance. His commitment to his faith was evident throughout his life, and at the young age of 16, he proudly became a deacon, a role he cherished and served with humility.
Ernest’s love for his community extended beyond the church. He was an avid fan of classic Crusade movies, often reflecting on the lessons they taught him about courage, faith, and perseverance. His time as a dedicated member of his church family allowed him to connect with many whom he held close to his heart.
Ernest was known for his unwavering integrity, his ability to lift others up, and his gentle yet steadfast presence. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service to God and his family.
He is survived by his family and friends, who will continue to carry his memory with them, always remembering the impact he made on their lives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest “Bobby” Eugene Drummer; brother, Christopher Drummer; grandparents, Shelby and Catherine Collins, Walter and Mossie Drummer; and uncles, Shelby Collins, Jeffery Collins, and Forest “TC” Trammell.
Ernest is survived by his mother, Sandra Kaye Drummer; his siblings, Catherine Turner, Sandra Drummer, and Natalie Drummer. He is also survived by nieces Kiara (Phillip) Jenkins, Kristiana Drummer, Kiana Minter, Jayona Minter, and Ivy Drummer; and nephews Tommy Turner, Jamal Minter, and Kyrell Minter; and aunt Marguerite Trammell. Additionally, Ernest is remembered by a host of cousins (special cousins Shelby “Peanut” Person and Forrest Allen Trammell) and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2025 at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church. (13 Genesis Lane, Logan, WV 25601)
