Ernest Earl Hayes, Sr., a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Ernest dedicated over 20 years to APM Terminal Company as a welder and carpenter, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in his craft. His hands built more than structures- they reflected his dedication, skill, and the integrity with which he lived his Life.

Ernest's true legacy was found at home. A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and family man, he poured his heart into his loved ones. He celebrated every milestone, offered guidance through life's challenges, and created countless memories filled with laughter and love.

Ernest faced life's trials with courage and determination, never letting obstacles dim his spirit. He was a fighter in every sense- steadfast, dependable, and unwavering in his love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and unwavering faith, and his influence will be felt for generations.

He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Hayes, Sr.; his mpther, Savannah Hollis Biddy; his brother, Archie Hayes, Jr.; and his sister, Jacquelyn Hollis Murphy.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Veronica Hayes; his sons, Ernest Sharp, Rodrick Banks, Ernest Hayes Jr., and Courtney Pritchett, and Tyrus Harris (both of who served as a devoted caregivers); his daughters, Desiree (Morio) Pritchett, Charlisha Pritchett, and Erica Pritchett; two brothers, Fred (Lisa) Hollis and Theodore (Marjorie) Tims; devoted sisters Karen (Errol) Wright, Sr., Phyllis (Willard) Bush Sr., and Pamela (Antonio) Darrington Sr.; brother-in-law, Rev. James F. Murphy; devoted mother-in-law, Lucy Pritchett; 21 grandchildren, beloved grandson, Zedrick Roberson; a devoted friend, James "Slim" Sampy, and a host of nieces, nephews, one devoted, Mario (Autia) Powell, other relatives, and friends.

Ernest Earl Hayes, Sr. will be remembered as a man of integrity, love, and strength-a man whose hands built, whose heart nurtured, and whose spirit inspired. Though he has departed from this world, his memory will live on in the hearts, stories, and lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
