Please accept my most deepest condolences to your family. May you take comfort in James 1:13 that shows that God did not cause you this pain. May your joy replace your pain with your cherished memories of your loved one during this difficult time.

Cousin Ernest, it is hard to imagine you not being here, to hear your voice, have you visit. I will cherish the time we spent together. There was never a time you were in Chas, that I didn't get a call or visit. You have always inspire me, you would always put emphasis on the importance of family and keeping in touch with one another. I will miss our weekly call. Thank God for all that you have imparted into my life. The memories will linger forever in my heart. A soldier has left us for a better home. Sleep on in the arms of Jesus. You have fought a good fight. Thanks for loving and caring. Peace to the family

I'm very sorry that "Ernie" has passed away. "My heart felt sympathy goes out to all the Heyward family.
Erie would stop from time to time down at the beach in West Haven under the tree with us guy's and just have a nice talk and visit.. He is a man who to me and the rest of us, could only say Ernie was the perfect gentleman!!
I try to reflect on how when Erie was growingup with all he must have witness as a Black Man growing up in South? Also I think when getting a education must have been very hard at that time.
Also fighting in the Korean War! and fighting on the front line for 103 day's ..There is no cold worse than the winter's in Korea.
In closing I find myself honored be his friend as briefly even though the visit were only time to time...I and the rest that respected Ernie will surely miss him.. He's in God Hand's and at Peace! Jimmy Ballard
