Mr. Ernest Jabeth Josey (known as Ernie) was sent to his eternal home on February 22, 2025 in Florence, South Carolina. Ernie Josey is survived by his son, Rashad Josey; and his granddaughter, Chloe Josey, by his loving parents, Earnest and Cherry Josey; four siblings, Taffron Vereen, Tonce (Tieonda) Vereen, Jeremy Josey, and Lacey (Ramadhan) Suya; He also leaves behind his dear grandmother, Ethel Weaver; two uncles Lavonie Weaver and Jay (Theresa) Weaver; five aunts Maggie (Willie) Abraham, Ethel (Kenneth) Dubose, Rudine (Willie) Ham, Kim (Anthony) Brown, and Alex (Harry) Nelson; one great-aunt, Carrie Eaddy; a special cousin, Mable (Lemuel) Wright; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, other cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Ernie. He was a kind and generous soul who dedicated himself to caring for our parents, always ensuring they had everything they needed—from rides to the store and doctor’s appointments to simply being there for them.

Ernie was educated in the Florence County School system with Wilson High School being the last school attended. He further pursued his education at Adult Ed.

Ernie worked in the food service industry until illness overtook him. He was an experienced, reliable and dedicated worker. You could count on him every day of the week. He took pride in his work with a positive attitude. He had a solid work ethic.

Though he was a quiet man, his actions spoke volumes. He never hesitated to send thoughtful gifts, birthday cards, and support to his family, showing his love in the most meaningful ways. He never asked for much, never caused trouble, and lived a life of quiet kindness and selflessness.

Ernie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and in the many small, thoughtful ways he made the world a better place.

Rest in peace, dear Ernie. You were loved more than words can say.

Family will receive friends at 3506 E. King Henry Drive, Florence.
