Ernest John "Johnny" Klotz Jr was born in Houston, Texas on January 31, 1956 to Ernest & Cecilia Klotz. He had six sisters - Helen, Gloria, Karen, Loretta, Yvonne & Mickey, and four brothers - Clarence, AJ, Andy & David.
In 1974, Johnny graduated from Lamar High School in Rosenberg. He had an aptitude for math and science, but as a teenager he was more interested horses, hunting and fishing. He liked doing work on the back of a horse, and often told stories about finding cattle in the huisache when he could find work for local farmers & ranchers. He was especially proud of his roping horse, Clyde. An explosive and an amazing animal he used for when he competed at Roundup in Fulshear. He often spoke of catching frogs in the flood waters and hunting with his father's Browing Model 11, the same shotgun he used on his last hunt.
On January 5th 1974, during a Barrons dance at Riverside Hall in East Benard, Johnny met and instantly loved Ms. Cythina Rabius of East Benard. They were engaged a month later. And on June 28, 1975, they were wed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wallis.
In April of 1978 they had a daughter, Katherine and in November of 1980 a son, Johnathan. In 1981, Johnny & Cynthia were ordered custody of their three nephews Michael, Landon and Brandon.
Johnny was a mechanical engineer by trade and very meticulous. He taught himself to build computers and write code. He was an inventor and an author with patents and copyrighted work. He could build just about anything but he specialized in design and repair of heat-treat furnaces. In 2017, after over 45 years in the industry, he retired to his home and family in Wallis.
During his retirement he enjoyed tinkering in the shop and was often consulted by colleagues, and by companies in Pittsburg, Cleveland, Mexico and South Africa.
Johnny's family was his treasure. He took them camping and fishing at Oyster Lake Park. And especially loved family road trips to Pikes Peak National Park. He loved the cool nights in the mountains where the stars were the brightest.
Johnny was passionate about his grand kids. Each was affectionately known as "Peanut". It was nothing for him to sit on the floor and watch cartoons with them all day. He always loved when they slept in his bed.
Johnny was a sucker for a good bar-b-que and a cold beer. He wasn't flashy and didn't care about fancy things. He was always happiest on his back porch watching the kids play. The exact thing he did Easter Weekend before he went inside for the last time.
In the early morning hours on April 26, 2025, Johnny died in his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Cynthia, his daughter and sons. Katherine Capps – husband Mike, Johnathan Klotz – wife Ashley, Michael Rabius – wife Liz, Brandon Rabius – wife Christine, and Landon Rabius – Melissa. His sisters Helen, Gloria, Loretta, and Mickey. His brothers Clarence, Andy and David, his mother-in-law Georgia Rabius, his nine grandchildren Wyatt Capps (Katherine). Robyn, Matthew, Jordyn & Madisyn Klotz (Johnathan). Clay and Deena (Michael). Bryan and Logan Rabius (Brandon), And many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death his parents Ernest and Cecilia Klotz, his sisters Yvonne and Karen, and his brother AJ. Johnny was 69.
