Ernest (Ernie) Ellis, 91, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. He was born June 16, 1930 in Roanoke, VA to the late Squire "Pete" and Lila (Cox) Ellis.
Ernie graduated from FJ Reitz High School in 1948 and retired from FJ Folz Company, where he worked as a draftsman. Prior to working at FJ Folz Company, he held various jobs such as; a milk man, gas station attendant and Sunday school teacher. Ernie was a member of Covert Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. His passion was vehicles, including; four wheelers, motorcycles and cars. Anyone who knew him would agree that he had the cleanest cars with the brightest shining tires in Evansville.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Ellis; son, Lonnie Ellis of Evansville; grandchildren, Sherry (Ellis) Rhodes, Chris Ellis, Brent Ellis, Jennifer (Ellis) Yaser and Adam Ellis; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and stepdaughters, Hazel Jones, Melanie Littlefield and Teila Weech.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet (Garrison) Ellis of 60 years; son, Tony Ellis and great great grandson, Ethan Duckworth.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Funeral service will begin Friday, October 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Tim Garrett officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
