Mr Loudon - 1987-1989 Sheldon HS: he treated us like responsible humans whether we acted like it or not. He challenged us to think and he let us practice critical thinking in a safe place before there were many of those for young people. He was such a beautiful human and I treasure that time in his classroom and have thought of him many times over the years. Truly a treasure. I feel so lucky to have been his student.
May his memory be a blessing.

I graduated Sheldon in 1989 and I had Mr. Loudon for several social studies classes. He was brilliant, compassionate, and inspirational. I am a social studies teacher today and everyday I try to reach his standard of teaching and caring and after 30 years of teaching I realize I am aiming for a goal that cannot possibly be reached. May your soul rest in peace.

Mr Louden you were definitely the best teacher ever. I´m so thankful I got to see you a few years back. You´ve left a lot of great memories here with all of the students who had you as their teacher.

My sincere condolences. Mr. Louden was a great teacher who did far more than teach facts-he offered perspective that stayed with me long after I left his classroom. As I left for college, he generously gave me his teacher´s manual from our AP history book, a gesture that spoke volumes about his belief in learning and mentorship. I went on to major in political science and attend law school, in part because of his influence. I still have that manual as a prized possession forty years later. I am deeply grateful for his impact and will remember him with great respect and appreciation.

I was a student at Sheldon, graduating 1979. I remember him as Mr. louden, Ernie out of class. He taught me not only facts, but perspective, not just history, but significance. I am grateful for that. Condolences to his family.

"This is an American History class. How is it possible that an exchange student from Finland gets the only A in this class??"- thank you for your inspiration. Sincerely, Marika Snellman (said exchange student at Sheldon High 1985-86)

Mr. Louden was my favorite teacher at Sheldon. He helped me to think about not just people in the past. He had me visualize individuals, and had me imagine what it was like for the black woman who refused to give up her seat on the bus. He opened my eyes to real history.
