Ernest "Ernie" Heart Ong February 13, 1943 – February 16, 2026

Ernest "Ernie" Heart Ong, a man of boundless energy, conviction, and grace, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, just days after celebrating his 83rd birthday.

Born in Manila, Philippines, as one of twelve children, Ernie's life was a testament to the power of hard work and community spirit. In the Philippines, he served with distinction as a Barangay Captain, a role where his natural leadership and dedication to public service first shone. He carried that same drive to the United States, building a successful career as a respected businessman known for his vision and commitment.

However, Ernie's legacy wasn't just built in boardrooms or civic offices-it was found on the dance floor. A passionate swing dance teacher and a fixture at the Eagles Ballroom, he proved to everyone he met that "grace and vitality know no age." His love for life took him across the globe, from the vibrant streets of Hong Kong and Singapore to the landscapes of Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

Ernie was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the YMCA, Mended Hearts, and the Filipino American Community of South Puget Sound (FACSPS).

He is survived by his devoted wife, Thelma Ang; their children, Ferdinand, Imelda, Elizabeth, and Irene; and his children, Erdie, Maricris, and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dominador, Johnny, and Dennis; and his sisters, Carmilita and Felicita.

Above all, Ernie will be remembered for his wisdom, his laughter, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. He lived fully and gave generously, leaving behind a rhythm of kindness and a roadmap for a life well-lived.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Service Information:

A celebration of his life will be held on March 12th at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, followed by a private reception for the family.
