Ernest was a dear friend and had a heart of gold. I remember him telling me some funny stories and hearing him laugh about some of the more interesting characters we both knew from the Gause area.
I miss him and I like to picture him and Zach enjoying some good times together in Heaven.

Ernest called me almost every day when he was too sick to do anything else. Sometimes he called two or three times a day. We shared a friendship like no other. I wish I could have helped him, but all I really could do is listen and share my thoughts on whatever he wanted to talk about. I miss his calls. I saved some of his voicemails on my phone. Love listening to his good natured tone of voice.

I guess the one thing I can say I learned from him is to be there for others and help when you can. He was a good person. Helped so many. He used to tell me about a homeless guy in Rockdale we both knew (from years ago in Gause) and how he would buy him lunch because he knew he was hungry. His kindness was invaluable.

I remember Ernest as being so very kindhearted when I first met him. He helped my son find a job, and was always there for us in so many ways.

Many are missed, but very few are never forgotten. We will never forget you, Ernest.
Thank you for being a friend.
