Ernie was a bright and shining star to all our family. He never gave in when the chips were down and he kept in touch after we retired to Colorado. We will always have found memories of riding around the farm in Marble Falls and all the laughs and joking. We spoke a couple of times recently and I hope we conveyed how much his friendship meant to us both. God bless! Karen and Patrick Carter

To Ernest`s family and friends . I met Ernest first in the 1980ies, when he was doing his Military job in Germany. He was part of a German group , having a good time and spending vacations every now and then.
We lost contact when he was going back to TX and been reconnected by a mutual friend. So after decades he picked me up from the Austin Airport. And visiting him at home for a week I met Joan as well and we became best friends, too. That must have been early in the 2000s, before he was diagnosed with colon cancer. Now we saw each other nearly each year. When he got his diagnose - and so many others in the next years - I could see what kind of a fighter he was ! Impressive , even in his very last weeks. He gave me kind of a "good bye call" on September 3rd. RIP, good old friend!
