I met Ernie when he applied for membership in flying club that shared a Beech Bonanza. I took him on this first flight in that plane before he became a member so he could see for himself whether he really wanted to buy a share. I knew his flying background, that he was much more experienced in flying than I was. I couldn't let him land the plane, so I hoped I would make a good landing with this much-more-experienced pilot beside me. Thankfully, I did. I was a great pleasure sharing that plane with Ernie for 15 years. Also, I'm so grateful that I went to see him in the hospital, and visited with him and a few other of this friends, three days before he died.
