I was privileged to have been helping take care of Ernie for the past 19 months. I don't think I have ever known a man that had the will to live like he did. He had been through amazing Illnesses, sicknesses and surgeries, and stunned everybody because he just kept on going. But finally his body couldn't keep up with everything that he had gone through and over the past three months he had just gone downhill to the point where he became a prisoner in his hospital bed and over the past couple weeks a prisoner in his own body. I was so lucky to have lived in his house with him and got to talk to him each and every day and I learned so much from him on how to be kind to other people, sometimes even when they don't deserve your kindness. He allowed me to come into his life and into his five daughters lives and showed me so much kindness, compassion and unconditional love. All I can say is that the world lost a really amazing and wonderful man Monday night at 7:03pm. My life will forever be changed for the better because of Ernie. I wish he was still here because I'm being selfish, but I know he's in such a much better place and he is free from pain and sickness and he's walking around, and if I know Ernie he's carrying around his PBR....
