Ernestine Carmenatti Robles

Ernestine Carmenatti Robles passed away on December 30th 2025 with her loving family by her side. Ernestine was born May 16th 1944 to Ernestina Declet Carmenatti and Francisco Robles. She was the youngest of five.
Ernestine attended High School in Brooklyn NY. She went on to obtain her BA in Art History from Lehman College.
In between college Ernestine created a beautiful family and career. Ernestine worked multiple jobs to insure her children John Ayala and Alexis Hernandez had a private school education. Being the sole parent for her children she sacrificed many things to ensure they had everything they would need. Ernestine was extremely proud of her children, she worked hard to not only provide but also to instill strong work values.
Ernestine dedicated 40 years to Montefiore and Einstein. Ernestine worked for the chairman of general surgery Dr. Marvin L. Gliedman located in Montefiore Hospital. After retirement she continued to contribute her time volunteering at Montefiore in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Ernestine found solace in the arts. She was gifted in photography, needle point and knitting. Ernestine enjoyed quiet days reading, and caring for her plants. She loved going to museums, the botanical gardens, the Williamsbridge Oval park, and exploring NYC. Ernestine was a huge Mets fan, she rarely missed a game and you could find her watching reruns on the TV.
Ernestine was a daughter, sister, cousin, mother, aunt, godmother, nana, and friend. She was a loving soul, whose empathy and strength is seen in her beautiful family.
Survived by her children John Ayala and Alexis Hernandez, daughter-in-law Marisa Ayala, grandchildren Erika Ayala and Brianna Ayala, sisters Ann Quinones and Zaida Ramirez, sister/cousin Eva Papas, sister-in-law Aida Robles, nieces and nephews; Debbie, Evan, Jeff, Joanne, Norma, Wally, Jessica and Eva

Declet Carmenatti and Francisco Robles and her siblings Nora Thelma Robles and Frank Robles and brother-in-law Wally
Ernestine's funeral will be held Saturday January 10th 2026 at John J. Fox and Sons located at 203 E 201 St. Bronx, NY 10458
