Ernesto O. Eck, 103, of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 13,

Ernesto was born on August 13, 1922, to Otto and Ella Eck in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His family moved to Viña del Mar, Chile in 1929. He attended Deutsche Schule in Viña
del Mar from 1929-1932. After his family moved to Santiago, Chile, he attended
Deutsche Schule in Santiago from 1933-1939. He served two years in the Argentine
Military Service after graduation, from 1942-1944. When he completed his military
service, he worked for many years in the shipping logistics industry in Buenos Aires.

Ernesto started working at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C.
from its inception in 1960. While working there, he met Rosita Reyes. They wed in 1961
and had three children. He retired after 25 years of dedicated service. After retirement,
he enjoyed spending time traveling overseas. He would often visit family and friends in
Chile, which is where he met his second wife Ema Ester Muñoz. Each summer, he
enjoyed going to the beach with his family. He cherished time spent with his wife,
children, grandchildren and friends. One of the family's most treasured memories is the
day that he received his American citizenship.
