Ernesto Luna

Our family lost our ultimate MVP on New Year's Day. Ernesto Luna, a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi and a die-hard, "Silver and Black" through-and-through Raiders fan, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 23, 1960, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Isabel and Amada Luna, Ernesto spent his life "Just Winning" in the roles that mattered most: as a devoted husband, a guiding father, a loving brother, and a doting grandfather.

Ernesto was the beloved husband of Amalia Ortiz Luna, with whom he built a beautiful life and home. He was a proud and loving father to his three children: Andrea Luna, Francisco Luna (and wife Madeline), and Emmanuel Luna (and wife Caitlynn).

While he cheered loudly for his team, the true light of his life were his two granddaughters, Kaylin Alessandra and Sophia Jade. To them, he wasn't just Ernesto-he was their beloved "PoPo" and "Pop Pop." He never missed a chance to show them how much they were loved.

He is also survived by his siblings, who will miss his spirit and strength: San Juanita Alejandro, Maria Sokolski, Graciela Winegardner, and John Luna, along with numerous nieces and nephews who all held a special place in his heart.

Outside of football season, Ernesto was a master of the BBQ grill. He found his greatest joy in feeding his friends and family, always ensuring no one was left hungry and that the Raiders game was on the TV.
