ERNST TONSTAD Obituary
ERNST T. TONSTAD (Age 89)
Of Gambrills, MD, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, December 28, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of Gerd Tonstad of Gambrills, MD; daughter, Mai Forinash of Atlanta, GA; three step children, two grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Mr. Tonstad was born in Lista, Norway on September 26, 1924 to the late Peter and Martha Tonstad. He was a member of the Sons of Norway and was the proud successful owner of Tonstad Caulking Co. in Alexandria, VA for 40 years. Visitation will be held at the DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA (703)941-9428 on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m., where a funeral service will also be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Ernst Tonstad's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101 or www.stjude.org. We will miss our neighbor at IWCA! That beautiful smile and gorgeous shock of silver hair coupled with his infectious laugh made Ernie unforgettable! What a nice man! May you feel God's grace every minute of every day as you both celebrate Ernie's life and mourn his passing.

My memory of Ernst
It was always good to see Ernst zipping around the community on his Segway. He was a pleasure to see. After not seeing him for a while I finally saw him again zipping around on his three wheeler. He was always pleasant and very friendly. He will be missed. Knowing he is in a peaceful, loving place and in no more pain, is very comforting. He's probably zipping around on his Segway in heaven.
