Funeral services for Errol Rayford “Ray” Sumrall, 76, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service on Sunday.
Ray was born February 28, 1947 in Laurel, MS, and passed away on December 26, 2023, in West Monroe, LA.
He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. Ray was a well-known ham radio operator who enjoyed riding his motorcycle, flying his airplane, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Cypress Baptist Church. Ray had a beautiful baritone singing voice that he shared with the gospel quartet, “The Southern Envoys”.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Sumrall; his mother, Winnie Sumrall; and his sister, Cissie Hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita Sumrall; his daughters, Nikki Sumrall Welch, Crystal Sumrall Deguire, India Sumrall McCoy, Tiffany Sumrall Harrell; grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Reagan, Aidan, Ariel, Joshua, Isabelle, Jayden, Gabriel, and Carter; great grandchildren, Judah and Sutton; brothers, Charles Sumrall and Glenn Sumrall; alongside beloved relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Remigio Leija, Jr., Darren Welch, Byron McCoy, Jr., Joshua McCoy, James Harrell, Rodney Evans, Cody Evans, and John Richey, Jr.
