Death Notice

Ervin Dean Eastlick

1946 - 2024

Ervin Dean Eastlick, 77, of Laurel, MT, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his son Brandon by his side on January 6, 2024.
Ervin was born on December, 20, 1946 to Guerdon and Lucille Eastlick in their home in Rockvale, MT. In 1954, when he was eight his family moved to, and began working with, Frank Farms in Laurel, MT. Ranch life only increased Ervin's desire to become a cowboy like his favorite actor John Wayne. This desire took shape and became a reality on the fields of Frank Farms, working cattle, helping with the dairy cows, and growing corn, sugar beets, wheat, and barley on the farm. He dedicated himself to Frank Farms, learning everything about the farm until he knew the entire place inside and out, making himself a valuable member of the Frank Farms family. Ervin continued to work on the farm cowboying into his adulthood when he decided to try his roping skills in the local circuit rodeo. Ervin spent four years rodeoing as a heeler in the team roper category. Due to a shoulder injury his rodeo career, while exciting, was short-lived. Ervin returned to the farm full time and continued ranching and cowboying until he retired in 2020 at the age of 74.
In 1971 Ervin married his first wife Gladys. They would go on to have 3 sons, Dustin, Josh, and Brandon. Later Ervin would marry his second wife Charlene in 1985. They would go on to have 2 daughters, Brandi and Monica. Ervin was a devoted father who worked hard to provide for his family, to raise good, strong children who understand the value of a hard day's work.
Ervin was an avid hunter and fisher. He enjoyed spending his days watching Longmire, car shows, and rodeos. In recent years Ervin got back into gardening and took up smoking meat in the backyard. He enjoyed reminiscing on the past and teaching his daughters his favorite recipes his mother Lucille used to cook. Ervin was a strong man who was never afraid to tell you what was on his mind or to thump you on the head just for the fun of it. He was much loved and respected by all of his friends and family, of which he had a lot. His loss is deeply felt by all those who cared for him.
Ervin is preceded in death by his parents Guerdon and Lucille, second wife Charlene, and oldest son Dustin.
He is survived by his first wife Gladys, sons Brandon (Shannon) and Josh (Ferrin), daughters Brandi and Monica, daughter-in-law Trudi, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
