Obituary: Esmay A. Clarke
December 23, 1950 – September 20, 2025
Ms. Esmay Clarke was born in Supply, East Bank of Demerara, Guyana, on December 23, 1950, to Alfred and Lucille Clarke. She was the eldest of four siblings, with two-Dennis and Oswald Clarke-still living.
She attended Supply Primary School, Houston Community High School, and the Institute of Commerce, where she completed her education, gaining advanced skills in English, typewriting, and shorthand.
She grew up in Supply and later moved to Timehri where she worked at the Ministry of Works in Timehri as an office clerk and senior secretary from 1970 to 1986.
She migrated to the USA in 1986. Always eager to improve her education and financial situation, she pursued studies and became qualified to provide supervised Home Attendant Services immediately upon arriving in the USA.
She was a constant reminder that angels are not merely imaginary beings; they are warm-hearted people sent by God to guide us through our darkest and most difficult moments.
She embodied the qualities of a true humanitarian. Living a modest lifestyle, she always lent a listening ear to those in need, helping to calm their fears and strengthen their faith.
Through avid reading, she acquired a wealth of knowledge and able to thoughtfully reflect on various issues and provided sound advice to anyone seeking guidance.
However, her extensive knowledge and inspiring thoughts only partially captured the essence of who she truly was. Due to her humility, she may have been unaware of the profound impact her selflessness and good deeds had on the personal and professional lives of many.
In her honor, I encourage us all to cherish our memories of her and to reflect her remarkable character in our own lives. She made the most of her many talents and has now completed her earthly assignments-heaven was missing an angel.
Her love and devotion to her children were evident. She had a remarkable sense of humor, often sharing funny stories to make others laugh.
She leaves behind her two aunts-Rose Ferguson and Renee Percival, her uncle Sam Ferguson, three children-Eusi, Collin, and Michelle; daughters-in-law-Keisha and Jannelle, four nieces-Denise, Vanessa, Faye, and Jinnel; two nephews-Trevor and Trayvon; fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins including Benda and Osric Loncke, other relatives, and family-friends including, but not limited to, Toddy Chifura, the Chungs, Thornes, Lovells, and Burgans.
We will greatly miss her sense of humor and her genuine concern for others. May all those whom she positively impacted continue to follow her valuable advice, emulate her humility, honor her cherished memories, continue her legacy of love, and remain strong and courageous as they navigate life.
We love her dearly and will miss her greatly.
We bid you farewell. Journey well dear mother
