Esperanza R. "Hope" Cavazos

Esperanza Cavazos, 88, passed away on March 20, 2025, in her family home, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Nada, TX, to Jose Rodriguez and Julia Garcia. She was proudly employed by Richmond State School as a Housekeeping Supervisor for 35 years.
Esperanza was married to Ben Cavazos, the love of her life, for 62 years. She was a devoted animal lover, especially fond of puppies, whom she spoiled with treats while affectionately saying, "qué chulo" with a smile.
She had an incredible talent and passion for cooking. Many weekends, her home was filled with family enjoying her homemade meals, each dish prepared with love. She was especially known for her world-famous tamales, a beloved tradition in the community.
Above all, Esperanza cherished her family. She was their biggest supporter, celebrating every achievement, from sports competitions to graduations. A woman of deep faith, she exemplified selflessness, always putting her loved ones before herself-a legacy she instilled in her family.
Esperanza's contagious smile, laughter, and warm hugs will forever remain in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Rodriguez and Julia Garcia; her beloved husband, Ben Cavazos; her brother, Ben Garcia; her sisters, Angela Gamino and Connie Garcia; her son, Daniel Ramirez; and her granddaughter, Melissa Moore.
She is survived by her siblings, Manuel Garcia, Lupe Garcia, Mary Cervantes, and Eddie Garcia. She leaves behind her children: David (Jana) Cavazos, Olga Ramirez, Janie (Butch) Gonzales, Terry (Dr. William) Colgin, and Dolores (Rick) Flores.
Her cherished grandchildren include Joe Becerra, Glenda Ramirez, Daniel Ramirez, TJ Gonzales, Christopher (Kelly) Ramirez, Christian (Derly) Chapa, Lauren (Sean) Hinton, Jordan Privette, Dr. Tyler (Angela) Flores, Hope Ramirez, Will (Rhonda) Colgin, Casey (Stella) Colgin, and Cori (Kevin) Faightinger, along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025-both at the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
