Dunn, NC: Mrs. Esteen Hudson Turnage, age 90, of Woods Crossroads Road passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be held-11:00 AM Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. C.H. Lee and Steven Campbell. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Turnage was born on October 27, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Preston and Esther Ellen Hudson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Turnage; brothers, Lenard Hudson, Jeffro Hudson, and Homer Hudson; and sister, Kathleen McLamb. Mrs. Turnage was a farmer and a homemaker. She was loved by her family, neighbors, and community and well known for her cooking, especially her spaghetti and pecan cake. She had a love for flowers and gardening, in her later years unable to keep up a full garden, she began to grow her vegetables in five-gallon buckets. She was an extra grandma to many children in her community who she helped to raise. More than anything else, she loved her family especially her late husband, Clarence and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, CP and Sheila Turnage of Dunn and Reggie and Malinda Turnage of Dunn; grandchildren, Michael Turnage, Misti Turnage Wood and husband, Patrick, and Casey Turnage; great grandchildren, Preston Wood and Grayden Wood; sister, Gaynelle Lee and husband, Larry; sisters-in-law, Thurlene Baker, Carolyn Hudson, Jamie Hudson, and Jackie Hudson; special friends, Jerry and Jean Daniels; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, calls, visits, and prayers during Mrs. Turnage’s extended illness.
