Esterina Mercogliano, of Collegeville, Pa passed away on June 3, 2024 at the age of 93. Born on November 11, 1930 in Montella, Italy, to the late Ernesto and Angelina (nee Scandone) Fiore, Esterina was the beloved wife of the late Alfredo Mercogliano; loving mother of Loredana, Gaetano, Giancarlo; cherished grandmother of John, Kathryn, Michelle, and Christina; dear sister of Mario, Remigio, Amelia, the late Antonio, Nicolina, Salvatrice, Elena, Lisa, and the late Marissa.
A woman of great faith, she was a devout lifelong catholic who drew great strength and peace from her Lord. Esterina was a kind, humble and loving mother, grandmother, wife and aunt. She valued family and friends, giving her support and love, unconditionally.
Esterina's courage, and love for her family and one true love, Alfredo, gave her the strength to leave her home in Montella, Italy for a better future.
Esterina enjoyed cooking big Sunday dinners and being with her family, teaching friends how to prepare italian meals, especially sauce, and watching her Italian programs. She was proud of her heritage and keeping close to her roots gave her great joy. At times, when working at Sacred Heart Hospital, she happily assisted other sons and daughters of Italy, during their most stressful times.
She will be greatly missed, but will always be in our hearts and her life work will continue to live within her children and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to Esterina's viewing and funeral mass on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 10 to 10:50 AM, followed by mass at 11 AM at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd, Norristown, Pa 19403; entombment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Visitation B.V.M. Trooper Rd. Trooper, Pa. 19403 or Don. Andrea Ciriello Via 3 Monte Numero Uno Montella, Italy 83048 (Santissimo Salvatore di Montella)
Family care entrusted to the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton.
