Esther Gerry Albansky

Portland - Esther Gerry Albansky, 84, passed away quietly in her apartment with her son nearby on the evening of February 25, 2026.

Esther was born in Old Town, Maine, on August 23, 1941. Her parents were Clayton and Bessie (Crabtree) Valley. She had two older brothers, Carol and Stanley, and a younger sister, Edith.

Esther was married at a young age to Leon J. Gerry, Sr., and raised two children, Robyn Lisa Gerry and Leon J. Gerry, Jr. At the beginning of their life together, they lived in Windham, Maine, where both of their children graduated from high school.

Florida was a big attraction to them, and so after the kids were grown, they became "Snowbirds", spending the summers in Maine and North Conway, NH.

Esther was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Leon, and also her daughter, Robyn. In 2019, she remarried to Stanley Albansky of Springhill, Florida, who also predeceased her.

Esther is lovingly remembered by her son Jim of South Portland, his wife Terri, and their daughter Jennifer. She is also remembered by her younger sister, Edith Hutchinson of Pittsfield, Maine, and her grandson Justin Sylvia of East Walpole, Mass.

She has many friends at the First Light Church of the Nazarene in South Portland where she and her family attended for many years.

A small gathering of family and friends will take place this upcoming summer in Crawford Notch, NH. We will honor her wishes and have her ashes spread next to her husband and daughter in a memorial garden located there.
