Esther Espada Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Short & Rowe Funeral Home on Sep. 11, 2025.
Esther E. Ojeda Espada 86 of Hudson passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025 at her home surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Esther lived a remarkable and full life - a reflection of the vibrant and loving person she was.

Ester was born in Canasí, Cuba to the late Eusebio Ojeda Denis and Maria O. Espada Rodriguez. Her childhood was filled with rural hardships, but with the excitement that came with 10 siblings. As she grew up, she collected the songs, poems and stories recited by her elders, developing a beautiful talent for storytelling. She often recollected these treasures to her family, an oral tradition they will continue as part of her legacy. She was a lover of books and puzzles which kept her sharp right up to the end.

She fiercely loved her only daughter, who was her greatest love and purpose. Her 2 grandchildren were her pride and joy. She crafted the very best bedtime stories, gave the most comforting rubs, and was their greatest encourager and cheerleader. Her ever- present support and generosity was palpable in their lives. Her greatest joy was giving to others-her generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was also blessed to know and love 3 great grandchildren. She delighted in watching them grow and giving them her favorite chocolates as they doted on her.

Much like her namesake, she was a woman of admirable courage, resolve, wisdom and faith. Her family will fondly remember her quick wit, strong will, enduring spirit, giving heart, and unconditional love and affection.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Iralys Rufin Ojeda and her husband Rolando Niebla Almeida, a granddaughter, Yeselys Niebla Rufin and her husband Reynier Rodriguez, a grandson, Yosdany Niebla Rufin and his wife Sierra Niebla all of Hudson, 3 Great- Grandchildren, Kaelyn, Luna, Oscar, 1 sister, 7 brothers as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4-6 pm in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 12 at 11 am in Forestvale Cemetery, 177 Broad St., Hudson, MA
