Esther A. Madore, 87, of Coventry, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully, on Friday, November 28, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Esther was born on March 4, 1938, in Hartford, one of four children of the late Dwight and Anna Akerlind.
Esther grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School. She later attended nursing school, earning her license as a Practical Nurse. Her nursing career began at Windham Hospital, and for more than 35 years, she dedicated herself to Quarry Street Internal Medicine in Willimantic. Nursing was truly her calling as she enjoyed caring for others and built many lasting friendships throughout her journey.
Along with raising her family, Esther was an avid dog mom. She was predeceased by pets, Coco, her Miniature Poodle, and Josie, her Silky Terrier. She leaves in loving hands and hearts, Kia, her Yorkshire Terrier. In her earlier years, Esther loved seasonal camping. She was a member of the North Coventry Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Her retired passion was being outdoors, maintaining her yard and tending to her flower garden. Most of all, riding her John Deere in circles.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Phillip Madore and spouse, Jackie of Vernon and Gregg Madore of Willington and his girlfriend, Rhonda. Her daughter-in-law, Catherine Madore of East Hartford. Her loved and cherished grandchildren, Matthew Madore of Willington and his girlfriend, Elizabeth, and Katie Madore and her spouse, Colette Madore of Rockville, MD., and her step-grandchildren, Andrew Schwager of Richmond, TX, Brian and Danny Schwager of Vernon, and Conner Kubasek of Greenville, NC. and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, Esther was predeceased by her three siblings: Charles and Dwight Akerlind and Elizabeth Duquette.
Calling hours will be at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon, CT 06066, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5-7 P.M. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:30 A.M., followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Coventry. Memorial contributions may be made to the John A.
