Esther Theresia Marie Thompson, age 95 of Unionville Center, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Brookdale of Marysville.
Esther was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born August 21, 1926 in Darby Township to the late J. George and Matilda (Nicol) Hubmann. Esther attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Chuckery and graduated from Chuckery-Darby High School in Unionville Center. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. C. J. S. Wachholz at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was married by Rev. Carl Zehner, to Freddy on April 20, 1947.
Esther was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Marysville. She was a member of St. John's Ladies' Aid, St. John's Quilters, Golden Eagles Seniors and St. John's Adult Choir. Along with Freddy, she volunteered for over 2000 hours serving Union County Mobile Meals.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Freddy "Jack" Thompson, who passed away on September 19, 2013; a daughter-in-law, Janie Thompson; a grandson-in-law, Ben Thimmes; sisters, Lucia Nicol, Doris Devine, Marilyn Nicol; brothers-in-law, Pearl Nicol, Russ Devine, Ed McCabe.
Esther will be missed by her devoted children: Glenn Thompson of Marysville, Shirley (Tony) Fortkamp of Lancaster, Angela (Rob) Schaner of Unionville Center, and Paul (Jane) Thompson of Magnetic Springs. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister, Gladys McCabe of Plain City; brother-in-law, Lloyd Nicol of Milford Center; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, December 3, 2021 at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street, Plain City, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church 12809 St. Rt. 736, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union County Mobile Meals, 550 London Ave, Marysville, Ohio 43040. Burial St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
