Esther May Baker

Esther May Deal Baker of Tucker, GA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Mrs. Baker was born to Hallie May Holt Deal and Jesse Burnett Deal on July 16, 1928 in Macon, Ga.
She grew up in Macon and Meridian, Miss. After graduating from Miller High School for Girls, she studied music at Wesleyan College. She continued her love of music by playing organ and piano at the Callanwolde Arts Guild, weddings, and other occasions. She was married to Herman D. Baker for 62 years. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur where she volunteered at the library and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother, and her brother Harley Deal. She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Buchanan, Gloria Hall (Victor) and Joyce Baker; her grandchildren Jessica Tuttle, Megan Teeter, David Fondren and Jacob Buchanan; four great grandchildren, Ethan and Layla Tuttle, Avery and Owen Teeter, as well as her brother, Cecil Deal.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday November 16th in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons with a reception to be held immediately following her memorial services.
