Esther Sutton Obituary

After graduating from Norfolk Public Schools, Esther went on to be the first person in her family to receive a college degree, a bachelor's in physical therapy from Norfolk State University in 1981.
She would spend her career assisting and working with veterans. She spent the first ten years working for the Brooklyn Veterans Hospital in New York City.
From there, Esther moved her career to Asheville, North Carolina, where she continued her career at Charles George Department of Veteran Affairs and went on to last 30 years.
During the holidays and breaks, she would travel back to Norfolk to be the "Rich Auntie." She was predeceased by her parents, Lillie Bell and Walter Lee Sutton; siblings, Alice M. Wood, James E. Sutton, Ann L. Sutton, Charles Sutton, Ernestine Sutton, Robert Sutton, and Walter Sutton. She is survived by her brother, William Sutton, and leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
