Esther J. Walker

Esther Jeanette Walker was born January 25, 1938 in Nottoway County to Henry and Marie Dodson. She departed this life on December 20, 2022 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blackstone, VA.
Esther was a member of New Poplar Mount Baptist Church for many years. She truly enjoyed the teachings in Bible class and her daughter Barbra would do research for her..
Esther was a homemaker until her children were in high school. She worked at Fort Pickett each summer for several years, then she worked as a custodian at Nottoway Senior High School for several years after all of her children graduated from school.
Esther loved her family and gatherings, especially during holidays. Her favorite two holiday gatherings were the fourth of July and Christmas. She would complain about the work put into doing what was necessary to do, but she would not stop doing it.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Estelle Eppes; five sons, Archie Dodson (long-time close family friend Shirley) of Goochland, VA; Marlon Walker, Lawrence Walker (Sylinda) of Richmond, VA, Richard Walker and Mark Walker, bot h of Blackstone, VA; daughters, Barbra Brown (Esposito)) of Richmond and Betty MacFarland (Wilbert) of Blackstone, VA; grandchildren, Travis Booker, Archie Dodson Jr., Jamar Davis, Levar Davis, Rishyne Gaines, Christopher Walker, Jasmine Walker, Dystiny Walker, Allen Walker, Christian Walker, and Kelli Walker; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
