Ethan Alan Hakes, age 26, completed life's journey on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Ethan was born on January 6, 1999, in Billings, Montana. Ethan loved sports and could be found with a basketball in hand, looking for the next game to play in. He loved fishing, wrestling, and going on adventures. He was also an avid video game player.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Lucille Stutts of Roundup, MT; paternal grandparents, Roy and Dixie Hakes; special uncles and wrestling buddy, Kelly Stutts who passed away in 2021.
He is survived by his mother, Terri Y. (Hakes) Stutts of Decatur, TN; father, Bruce Hakes of Billings, MT; brother, Timothy Simmons of AZ, son, Andrew Joseph Hakes of Athens, TN. Ethan also had a host of aunts and uncles, Valerie Westgate of Billings, MT, Vernon Hakes of Garland, TX, Sandra Jones of Roundup, MT, Jacqueline Filer of Decatur, TN, Vernon Stutts of Smyrna, TN, Timothy Stutts of Sage, AR, Penny Chamness of Billings, MT, Faron Stutts of Billings, MT, Melody Lopez of Sage, AR, Dawn Davison of Shepherd, MT; many cousins; loving ex-wife, Kara Hakes, who has been a tremendous blessing; special friends, Riley Stinnett, Jacob Sneed, Bernard Rose of Hinesville, GA.
A Graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the Meigs County Memorial Gardens with Pastor Clifford Waters officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Decatur Funeral Home to help ease the financial burden on his mother during this difficult time. The family would also like to say a special thank you to everyone who prayed with and for the family during the past few years for Ethan's safety and soul.
