Ethel Lorraine Aust Anderson, 91, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Born on February 6, 1934, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Ethel was the eighth child of John Rudolf Aust and Elizabeth Katherine Felber Aust. A gifted musician, she was performing as a violist with the New Jersey State Orchestra by the age of 15. At 16, she enrolled at Wheaton Academy in Illinois, later attending Wheaton College, where she met the love of her life, Richard LeRoy Anderson. They were married on July 25, 1953, and shared nearly 50 years together until Richard's passing in 2003. In 2008, Ethel married Lowell Fox, with whom she shared happy years until his death in 2010.

For more than 70 years, Ethel was a beloved and active member of the Warsaw community. She served as a Sunday School teacher at Wayside Baptist Church, where Richard was pastor, and later became a founding leader of Winsome Women. She was an active member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church including their small groups. She was also a bible study leader, mentor and encourager to many throughout her life.

Ethel earned a master's degree in mathematics and taught both mathematics and music at Grace College. She founded the Grace College Orchestra and Handbell Choir, leading several tours through South America. She was an accomplished violist and played in multiple local orchestras. Earlier in her career, she taught in elementary schools and inspired countless young students. Outside of her professional life, she was a skilled athlete who made friends on the industrial league softball field and continued hitting home runs well into her 50s. Ethel was also a gifted artist and her family members treasure her oil paintings.

Ethel outlived her husband Richard, all of her siblings, and one grandson. She is joyfully reunited with them, along with many dear family members and friends who went before her. She was cherished as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother-affectionately known as "Onya" to her family.

She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (David) Nehf, Daniel (Kristen) Anderson, Dr. Edward Anderson, and Nancy (Dennis) Maloy; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Aaron Klein. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
