Ethel Floyd, age 95, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, January 25, 2026. She was born on August 7, 1930, in Nashville, GA to parents Eddie Merritt and Ganer Kent Merritt.
She worked as a dedicated seamstress for many years with her career of 25 years at Levi Strauss and 10 years at Cotton Mill. She loved traveling and working outside.
She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Willard Floyd; son, Larry Harnage; sister Jeanette Simmons; brothers, William Merritt and Leroy Merritt; grandson, Jason Harnage; granddaughter, Rebecca Beasley; son in law, Ron Talley and granddaughter, Jennifer Coody.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Brenda Hamby of Lake Park, GA, Linda Talley of Valdosta; son Jerry Harnage (Shirley) of Lake Park, GA, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held from 5:00PM – 7:00PM Friday, January 30, 2026. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
